18 weeks arrived on Sunday! I was looking at the fruit/veggie comparison this week – a sweet potato – and it’s crazy to think that just 12 weeks ago, little babe was a sweet pea! I can definitely see and feel the growth now! My belly has popped even more, and the little kicks are happening every so often.
This past week, we took a photo of the three pregos. I remember like 2 years ago saying to a friend how fun it would be to be pregnant at the same time as another friend. Well that has certainly happened. I haven’t seen the photo yet, but I’ll definitely share it once it’s out. I am 18 weeks, I think Dieuwke is around 27 weeks, and Emily is about 38-39 weeks! The first of the 2015 babies shall arrive anytime now!
18 Week Rundown
Weeks Pregnant: 18 weeks
Baby is the size of a… Sweet Potato
Food Cravings: On Thursday night Robbie and I were going to go on a date night, and we were talking about what we wanted to do. He said, “Why don’t we go have dinner together?” and I agreed that that’s a good idea. Then he said, “How about Grill’d?” I squealed like a 14-year-old girl seeing One Direction. I had mentioned to him a few weeks ago that we should go there because they have such amazing burgers, but I had completely forgotten about it. If we eat out, we generally stick to a few places nearby that are pretty inexpensive. I was so excited, and the burger was SOOOO good. All that to say, the burger craving is still going strong. Funny enough, after posting a photo, it seems that it is a lot of pregnant (or formerly pregnant) women’s cravings as well!
Food Aversions: I can’t think of too much here. Even the other day, I was watching a show where they were eating eggs, and I thought, “Oh eggs…those look nice.” I didn’t eat them, but it was still interesting that I even had that thought. I guess coffee is the only thing, but again, that’s not consistent. Somedays I really want coffee and other days, I don’t at all.
Symptoms: Allergies. Sneezing. Blowing nose. Sometimes I don’t understand how all that gunk is up there, but alas, I can pretty much always blow my nose these days. I did get a saline nasal spray that is safe for pregnancy and helps a little. Other symptom would be back pain, but I’ve read this is pretty standard around now because my weight is starting to shift because of my now cantaloupe-sized uterus. Final symptom – t.i.r.e.d. I’ve generally had more energy since about week 12, but I’ve noticed this past week that I’ve been very tired again. I wake up most mornings feeling like I could sleep for a few more hours. That may be because I am not sleeping as well, though. That sounds like a lot – generally speaking, I am feeling great
New this week: There are definitely some movements happening in there! They aren’t quite strong enough for Robbie to feel yet, but I am definitely feeling them more and more. The first time I felt it, it was just a tiny little popping/bubble sensation, but it’s gotten stronger over the past 10 days or so.
Looking forward to: I am looking for Robbie being able to feel the baby. Although, I have noticed that our baby is quite shy. I’ll feel him/her move while I am reading or doing something. Then I’ll focus on it, trying to feel…and nothing. A little stage fright maybe? So hopefully when the kicks are stronger, Robbie can get a feel before they get too shy and stop moving. Also looking forward to our Dr appt this week and hopefully getting to hear the heartbeat again!

Exercise: I did some pilates this week, which felt great. Planning to write out more of a schedule for pilates/walking/etc. this week.
