Yesterday my friend said, “So 19 weeks huh?”, and I responded that I was actually 21 weeks now. He then said, “No I mean you have 19 weeks left!” That’s a pretty cool moment when the number of weeks behind you is greater than the number of weeks left. It’s flying by!
I also did a little comparison shot that I thought was pretty funny. I got this plain white shirt while we were in the States in December, and when I was wearing it one day, my friend iMessaged me and asked for a “bump” shot. I sent her the top one. I took another photo on Saturday wearing the same shirt for comparison sake. I’d say it’s a little different wouldn’t you?
Other than that, this week has been pretty uneventful but good. It’s officially autumn here now, and even though yesterday was the hottest day in the last few weeks, today is beautiful. I am very much looking forward to these temperatures chilling out!
21 Week Rundown
Baby is the size of a… Pomegranate. So at this point in pregnancy my apps/books are starting to say different things as far as what baby’s size compares to. The measurements are all saying the same, though, and last week, baby was 6.5 in long. This week? 7.5? 8.5? No, no – that’s not a big enough growth spurt. 10.5!!! I was shocked, thinking my first app was mistaken. Then I checked the other one and my book, and they’re all consistent. The technician was right when she said baby has a growth spurt around 20 weeks!
Food Cravings: Honestly, I feel like cravings have sort of mellowed out lately. I don’t find myself thinking, “I HAVE TO HAVE
Food Aversions: Eggs.
Symptoms: My allergies are still acting up, but whatever. I’ve sort of just accepted it. Other than that, I have had a really random symptom that may or may not be attributed to pregnancy? I have never had it before, though, so I am assuming it is related to pregnancy somehow. When I wake up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom, the bottoms of my feet are sore. They feel like I’ve been wearing heels for hours. They don’t hurt at all during the day – just in the middle of the night. It’s so random.
New this week: We could see Bean kicking/moving just by staring at my belly this week. That was pretty crazy. We had our ultrasound, which was wonderful. We also bought a little dresser for Bean that we are going to paint.
I went to the Baby Markets for the first time yesterday. That was quite an experience :) I love that my city does this sort of thing. They hold them every three months or so, and it’s in this basketball gymnasium near the big stadium. When Jess and I arrived, there was quite a line. These bargain shoppers are serious! I felt a bit like Rachel from Friends when Monica makes them look for her wedding dress in Brooklyn at the discount place. Ok so it wasn’t quite that dramatic, but people are serious about their deals. There were people and prams everywhere. I did snag a couple of deals – a couple of books to add to my “mumma collection” and a few neutral onesies for when Bean’s first born.
Looking forward to: I think sometime in the next week or so, I should be connecting with a midwife for the first time. I am really looking forward to that. I’m not sure what all to expect, but it’s definitely the route I want to go.
Miss anything? I could go for some sushi…and feta.
Exercise: Still walking whenever I can. I also snagged a book at the Baby Markets called The Pilates Pregnancy. I love pilates, and I’ve heard great things about incorporating it into your pregnancy. I am excited to look into that book a bit more. I’ve been trying to get some arm exercises in as well this past week. Squats and lunges are a whole new ball game when you’re pregnant, so I haven’t gotten as far with them. I can’t imagine trying to do that when the bump is twice as big!
Books I’m Currently Reading: I renewed the books I got from library so I can finish those, and I also have some new ones from the baby markets now.
